Non-Nursing Course Requirements  (58 credits)

After being admitted to UNCW, the student must submit an application to the SON.  Among other requirements, students must have a GPA of 2.5 on all previous college-level coursework and have completed all non-nursing courses (58 credits).

The RN to BS option requires completion of both nursing and non-nursing courses.  The non-nursing courses listed below must be completed prior to enrollment in nursing courses in the RN to BS option.  Students may apply for admission to the RN to BS option while they are completing final pre-requisite credits.  However, students will not be admitted to the option, until all basic study and nursing pre-requisite courses are complete.

A minimum of one calendar year of full-time study is necessary to complete the required nursing courses.  However, flexible part-time study is available for students wishing to take longer to complete the required nursing courses.

Students may transfer a maximum of 64 semester credits towards degree completion from two-year institutions, including community colleges, and may transfer a maximum of 96 semester credits from a four-year college or university.  Each student admitted to the RN to BS option receives academic advisement from the faculty within the school of nursing.

In order to receive an official evaluation of transcripts, it is necessary to make a formal application to the Amissions Office at UNCW.  Prior to making application, the student is encouraged to use the information provided below to perform a self-assessment of possible credits completed for transfer.  Information concerning transferability of credits earned in the North Carolina Community College system can be found in the Registrar's Office.

Students may also want to review the information concerning earning credits for CLEP exams.
