Nomination applications for the 2008-2009 awards will be posted below in February of 2009. As with the 2007-2008 nomination process, we will only be accepting electronic submissions via email to activities@uncw.edu. Hard copies of applications and supplemental materials will NOT be accepted. If needed, the Involvement Center has a scanner available for student organizations to use. Each individual award application, along with any supplemental application material, must be consolidated to one electronic file and submitted electronically. If your file is too large, you may submit a CD to the Involvement Center (FSC 2029). If your organization is applying for multiple awards, each award application should be in a separate electronic file (e.g. XYZ Organization – Social Program.doc, XYZ Organization – Unsung Hero.doc).
Nominations are due via email to activities@uncw.edu by (DATE TBD).
Recognition will be given at the Student Organization Appreciation Day on Thursday, April 16, 2009 with a select few awards that will be recognized at the Cornerstone Student Leadership Ceremony on Wednesday, April 22, 2009. More information will follow regarding the specifics of each award recognition and event.
If there are any questions, please feel free to call our office at 962.3553, email us at activities@uncw.edu, instant message us at uncwCAIC (AOL IM).
Who can submit nominations?
Anyone can submit a nomination on behalf of a student organization, although most of our applications come directly from the organizations themselves, so don't be shy about self-nominating!
What's the deadline again?
Nomination applications and materials are due back to the Campus Activities & Involvement Center by (Date TBD) . We realize that student organizations hold excellent programs and events in late March and April but we must set the deadline early enough for the Student Organizations Committee (SOC) to review and vote on all the nominees. If you have information on an event that is planned but yet to happen, you are free to submit an application for the selection committee to consider.

New Categories for the Student Organization of the Year - Teal and Gold:
This award was separated into two categories, Teal and Gold, beginning with the 2007-2008 academic year. These categories were developed to promote an equitable application process which will allow for organizations with comparable resources to compete at a fair level.
*Categories:
Teal: Organizations that have an annual operating budget of $30,000 or more and have a full-time UNCW faculty/staff advisor.
Gold: All other registered organizations.
Student Organization of the Year Awards will be given to one student organization in each category which exemplifies commitment to the betterment and strengthening of the UNCW community. These organizations should have strong leaders who consistently work together toward the group’s common goals. In addition, these organizations should serve as role models for the other UNCW registered student organizations.
