Instructional Programs

Campus Recreation instructional programs are non-credit programs that emphasize the development of students' abilities to acquire and apply knowledge learned in a specific program area. Program offerings vary each semester.

 

Adult Learn to Swim - Beginners

This course is designed for adults wishing to learn how to swim or who have had little formal swimming experience. Instruction will be tailored to your needs. Strokes introduced include freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke, elementary backstroke and sidestroke. Class limit = 8.

 

Adult Learn to Swim - Intermediate

This course is designed for adults wishing to learn how to swim or who have had little formal swimming experience. Instruction will be tailored to your needs. Strokes introduced include freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke, elementary backstroke and sidestroke. Class limit = 8.

 

Aikido

Through aikido we learn to use the principles of harmony and circular motion to control any attack that is directed at us. Not only does Aikido teach one to center oneself while being attacked, it also teaches one to carry this centering off the mat and into their daily lives. This art is very adaptive to people of all shapes and sizes as well as males and females. All levels welcome. A non-refundable fee of $30.

Belly Dancing Class:

This instruction dance class is designed to learn the basics of Belly Dancing, one of the oldest ancient dances! This class will provide a mild to moderate workout. Each class consists of a series of warm-ups, stretches, belly dance moves and cool-down stretches all set to music. The basic movements will be taught and then grouped into combinations to make it easier to re-create this workout at home.

I). Mondays Sept. 8, 15, 22, 29, 5:45—7:00 p.m. (Aerobics Room)

II). Mondays Oct. 13, 20, 27, 5:45—7:00 p.m. (Aerobics Room)

III). Mon. Nov. 3, 5:45—7:00 p.m. (Aerobics Room)

Wear comfortable workout clothes and something at your hips (belt, scarf, etc.). Pre-registration required. $20.00/a session.  NON-REFUNDABLE fee.

 

Salsa Dancing

Ready to see what all the fun is about. Learn Salsa and experience a whole new world of dancing. Pre-Registration is required begining August 20. Non-Refundable Fee: $15.00 individual or $25.00 couple.
