About Mark

My role at the Career Center

As a Career Development Counselor at the Career Center, I work primarily with students majoring in Nursing and the Social Sciences. I also supervise our Promotion Specialist program, which is a group of student workers who’s focus is to market the Career Center and give presentations to students.

My career path

I received my undergraduate degree in Psychology from Kent State University in Kent, OH with the intention of becoming a Therapist and an Educator. To achieve this goal, I enrolled at Radford University in Radford, VA to obtain my M.S. in Counselor Education, Student Affairs/College Counseling. While at Radford University I taught a Career Development course for undergraduate students. Through my teaching experience and my work in the Career Center, I soon realized my passion for Career Services.

The rewards in doing what I do

I love working with students who are excited about their futures, even if they are unsure of their direction. Giving presentations is another great joy of mine, as I feel that I have a talent for connecting with audiences. I also enjoy the variety of my work and that I never know who will walk through my door next.

My words of wisdom to students

Get as much career-related experience as you can. That is the only piece of advice I will give here, because of how important it is to a student’s future.

When I’m not on campus….

A majority of my time is spent playing competitive volleyball at Capt’n Bills. I also enjoy Kiteboarding and Windsurfing when I can find the time. My friends are a huge part of my life so I have fun hanging out with them, going out to dinner, and going downtown on the weekends.
