Be alert in construction zones. Look out for hazards and remember the site will change daily. The following are areas currently under construction:

 

Westside Hall Side Walk Closure:

A section of sidewalk will be closed on the east side of Westside Hall (the side closest to Randall Library). This closure is planned to begin Monday, March 15th. You should choose an alternative route in order to access Westside Hall during this time.

Construction fences at the School of Nursing site:

Effective immediately – there is a change in the construction fences at the School of Nursing site. The fence along the West side of the construction site has been moved to enclose the sidewalk that connects the Cahill/Reynolds intersection to Chancellor’s Walk. That sidewalk will be unavailable until it is replaced with a new sidewalk as part of the project.

The other sidewalks that leave the Cahill/Reynolds intersection are still available, so it is possible to travel along Cahill past Dobo and Cameron as before. It is also possible to use the sidewalk that goes from the Cahill/Reynolds intersection to the North East corner of Dobo Hall, and then follow that walk around Dobo to Chancellor’s Walk.

 

Construction Notice UPDATE – Walton Drive Closure

The closure of Walton Drive previously announced for the weekend of March 13 and 14, has been changed to occur tomorrow, Friday March 12. This change allows the work to be completed in just one day with the road reopening over the weekend when many of our students are returning from spring break.

This closure is required to re-pave the areas disturbed by the recent installation of underground pipelines in the area.

Please avoid the area around the Walton / Cahill intersection as much as possible. It is best to get from one side of campus to the other by taking Wagoner Drive across the front of campus.

This activity is weather dependant, and may be delayed into the weekend in the unlikely event that heavy rain does not allow the work to be done on the 12th.

 

Construction Notice – Rose/Reigel intersection to Clear Run Drive

Cape Fear Public Utility Authority plans to begin work this week installing a new underground sewer line within the utility easement on the eastern edge of the UNCW main campus. The work will begin at the Rose / Riegel intersection, and continue along the property line to Clear Run Drive.

Site clearing is scheduled to begin Thursday 3/18/10 and continue for several weeks. The contractor plans to use an area along Rose (near Riegel) as a lay-down area for the sewer piping during the construction period. Installation of the pipe is expected to be finished in July 2010.
