As a 26 year old junior majoring in Education and English, Drew re-enrolled in college after already obtaining a BS in Journalism and minor in Cinematic Arts from Radford University in Radford, VA. Even though Drew successfully obtained this degree, Drew still felt like something was missing. “I had a sense that I had failed somewhere along the line when I already graduated from a 4-year college and spent three years moving around in the ‘real world.’” This confusion is common to many nontraditional students, and Drew has conquered his challenges with the help of many others. Drew credits the support of his wife Jonell Kinback, his family, and the support of the staff and faculty here at UNCW for eliminating this dreadful but common emotion. He sends out a special thank-you to the staff at Sharky’s, who he says “have made my transition into the Student Union Family a happy and easy one.” Drew states that, “the people, services, and educators here at UNCW have made me realize that I haven’t failed at all but I am just continuing to grow into the person that I am meant to be.” Drew’s advice to his fellow nontraditional students shows his love for UNCW and his dedication to the future. “Keep striving towards your goals, he urges. “Keep dreaming your dreams. Andrew “Drew” Kinback, was nominated by Krista Harrell, who states that as a Sharky’s Game Room and Box Office attendant, Drew has “jumped right in and made a fantastic addition to the Sharky’s team and the Union student staff.” Being employed by UNCW’s media entertainment headquarters fits Drew’s style like a glove. “I am really a film student at heart,” Drew says. As a member of the Flicker Film Society, Drew is part of an organization that Drew says gives him “a forum to express that creative part of myself.”
