MOVE IN 2009

Saturday, August 15, 2009 from 7:00 am to 1:00 pm

Check-in at Wagoner Dining Hall

One of the enduring traditions at the University of North Carolina Wilmington has been the warm greeting our new students receive from the volunteers who help them move into our university residence halls. Over the past several years, we have received countless comments of appreciation from new students and their families. This act of kindness by our university community is truly exemplary and makes a strong statement about our commitment to building a caring and supportive environment.

We are asking for your personal support for our Freshman Move-In 2009 program. There are a variety of opportunities to make a contribution, so bring friends or family members. Though there is a great need for volunteers to unload cars and help with carrying students’ belongings to their rooms, we also need volunteers to help students check in when they arrive on campus, distribute room keys, manage traffic in the parking lots, and many other important aspects of the freshmen move-in experience. If you would like to participate, but cannot engage in strenuous activities, please volunteer and we will find a place for you to contribute.

NOTE: All volunteers will receive a Move-In 2009 t-shirt, breakfast, and lunch. Volunteers will check-in at Wagoner Dining Hall beginning at 6:15 a.m. to receive their assignments, and breakfast will be served until 7:00 a.m. Volunteers will need to be in place by 7:30 a.m.

If you are interested, please register to volunteer online at http://appserv01.uncw.edu/selectsurveynet/TakeSurvey.aspx?PageNumber=1&SurveyID=n2K0mn2K by Monday, June 15, 2009. Should you have any questions or wish to register a group of volunteers, please do not hesitate to call. Jenn Smist will serve as the principal Move-In Volunteer Coordinator; please direct questions to her at smistj@uncw.edu or 910-962-3043.

On behalf of our new students, thank you for your kind support in welcoming them to the UNCW community!
