II: Criteria
Applicants (or the university employee if the applicant is not the employee) must also have been employed at UNCW for a minimum of one year upon the application deadline. The recipient must have been accepted into the University of North Carolina Wilmington and be pursuing a degree. The recipient must have a minimum GPA of 2.5. A new application and selection process will occur each semester. The award is to be used toward educational and other related expenses (tuition, fees, books, transportation, child care, etc.). The Staff Council Annual Scholarship will continue until the Staff Council Endowed Scholarship has been fully funded and awards can be made from its available interest. The university must receive all scholarship gifts no later than March 15th each year to allow for selection and awarding of the scholarships. All gifts to the fund are irrevocable. The recipients and a representative of the Staff Council Scholarship Committee will be invited to the annual UNCW scholarship recognition event and the scholarship will be listed in appropriate publications to include the UNCW catalogue.
