Admission to the BFA program comes through application only. The department accepts applications in January and September.
The BFA application consists of four parts:
- Completion of at least 24 hours of college-level credits.
- Completion of one of the introductory courses in creative writing (CRW 207: Introduction to Fiction Writing, CRW 208: Introduction to Poetry Writing, or CRW 209: Introduction to Creative Nonfiction Writing) with a minimum grade of B.
- Submission of the Application For Admission, available at the office of the Department of Creative Writing.
- Submission of a portfolio of creative work for review by faculty members. The portfolio must consist of 8-15 pages of fiction or creative nonfiction, or 6-10 pages of poetry.
Submit applications to the BFA coordinator.
